1 cup softened butter
1 cup shortening
2 cups powdered sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
Cream all the above with mixer till smooth (2 or 3 min)
2 eggs–added to above and mixed till smooth & slightly fluffy
4 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cream of tarter
Add dry ingredients slowly to creamed mixture.
Place mixture in fridge for a couple of hours if possible to firm up dough for handling
Shape dough into balls the size of walnuts. Flatten with glass dipped into mixture of four &
sugar (50/50)
Bake at 325 for 10 to 12 minutes or until edges are slightly golden brown.
Ice with Butter Frosting (see below) when cookies are cool.
Butter Frosting:
1 stick of melted butter
dash of salt (if butter is unsalted)
1 lb box of powdered sugar
enough milk or half & half to make spredable
l tsp. vanilla
few drops green food coloring
(use mixer to whip frosting ingredients together until smooth and light)
